Deuteronomy 3:24

24 'O Sovereign Lord, you have only begun to show your greatness and the strength of your hand to me, your servant. Is there any god in heaven or on earth who can perform such great and mighty deeds as you do?

Leave No Man Behind - Mark

Mark 14:32-34
They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death," he said to them. "Stay here and keep watch."

Jesus had the 12 disciples, and 3 of those were close confidants. I believe that our group will work in a similar way. The small group will bring experience and prayer support while each of us should have a few close advocates.

As we walk in obedience, Satan is increasing the attacks on our group. Make sure that you have an accountability partner / advocate. We must make sure that we "Leave No Men Behind!"

29 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'31 The second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."

Why is it so hard to always love your neighbor?

Eric

Mark 12:44 - Seth

"All the others gave what they'll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn't afford - she gave her all."

Daily Choices - Mark

Deuteronomy 1:22
Then all of you came to me and said, "Let us send men ahead to spy out the land for us and bring back a report about the route we are to take and the towns we will come to."

If the Israelites had jumped into the fight with confidence instead of tip-toeing in fear, they would have received the promised land.

Trusting God and walking in Faith is a daily choice. I choose to trust Him and know that He has my best interests at heart, or I don't.

Speak your promise out loud! There is power in the spoken word. It re-programs your brain for faith and it repels the enemy. Declare your promise!

Mark 11:23 - Seth

That's why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large.  Include everything as you embrace this God-life and you'll get God's everything.

Don't forget to pray and fast it's not a diet it's a fill up...=)

Forgiveness

Mark 11:25 "And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

This really stuck out to me reading today. How often do you hold grudges against coworkers, friends, family? Some of the things are big, but most often really just little things that should be forgiven. If we don't exercise that muscle, forgiveness, then we impede our own possible blessing from God.

Permission to act immature! Ok, maybe not.

Tony - Mark 10:16 = I wonder what became of those children. Can you imagine receiving a blessing straight from Jesus? Oh wait, we have!
I pray we will never hinder our children from seeing Jesus. Thanks to all of you working in some type of childrens' or youth ministry!

Numbers 33:55 - Lucas

Numbers 33:55 - But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell.

I read this as not fully dealing with sin, you will never be rid of it and it will cause you to fall over and over. Purity must be something I strive for each and every day. I know that there are areas of my life that don't seem all that bad, but certainly are not pure. I could definitely be eating better. I seriously need to exercise more. I can certainly be spending more time in the Word instead of watching TV. (We, too, are shutting off cable!)

Life of Service - Mark

Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

I have been called to a life of service.

We wrote down as many miracles as we could remember from 2009, and we are keeping track of the miracles for 2010. This is helping me to remember that He takes care of me daily and that He has not forgotten about me. It keeps me from grumbling or looking back to Egypt. Thank you Jesus for the daily mana.

Mark 10:36 - Seth

"What is it?  I'll see what I can do."  - Jesus

I was able to identify 10 answers to prayer over the last 10 days of fasting.  Praise Jesus!  After reading this verse I felt Jesus prompting me to ask for more.  So I made another list of 10.  I am excited to see what God does over these next 10 days!  C'mon Jesus!

Ted - Mark 9, What focuses my eyes away from God? Hmmm... Cable TV! NOW THAT THE OLYMPICS ARE DONE IT'S TIME TO SHUT R DOWN!

One Body - Lucas

Mark 9:38-41 Jesus forbids sectarianism

I come from a mixed church background, some Pres/Methodist, a little Catholicism, AoG, and Four Square. I can appreciate that God is working through all of these organizations. However, there are some who have taken this passage to the next level. Repossess! Here is a snippet from their website:

Repossess is more than a religious event that just happens. It is an active movement of people, day in and day out, relentlessly pursuing a life lived in freedom, grace, and peace--affecting the world around them. Repossess exists to create a generation of people actively pursuing a life that is “repossessed” by their Creator.

WE BELIEVE THAT EACH OF OUR GATHERINGS WILL BE:

- An expression of worship

- Unifying Christians

- Serving our community or a participating in a missional act of service for a global cause

- Building up local churches

Wait, did you see it? Unifying Christians. Building up local churches. They are not only tolerating other churches in the community, but engaging and serving God together. They are building each other up!

I feel honored to know some of the people who are part of this movement and am so excited to hear about this weekend's event from them. We need to pray for them. We need to look up to them!

Lord, help us to see beyond our church walls and to remember that we are one body. I pray for a fresh anointing of the Spirit on all the churches that participated this weekend in Repossess, and that those youth who attended return and energize their respective part of the body, to the equivalent of, like, twenty Red Bulls, or whatever they drink nowadays. Amen!

Mark 9:23 - Seth

Jesus said, "If?  There are no ifs among believers.  Anything can happen!"

C'mon Jesus! I am excited for what you are doing in my life!  And what you are going to do on day 41!

Unbelief - Mark

Mark 9:22-24
It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."
'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes.
"Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

The Disciples have already seen Jesus drive out evil spirits, heal the deaf and blind, feed thousands, calm the storms, and raise people from the dead. This must have been a minor task for the majesty of Jesus. Why didn't the Disciples encourage the father and help him overcome his doubt prior to Jesus' arrival?

Are faith and doubt mutually exclusive? If you are going through a trial, if you have been robbed of the relationship, the life, and the security you were supposed to have, the following sermon may be an encouragement.

Jesus, I believe, help me overcome my unbelief.
Mark 8:14-21

Ok, I think I know. But I would appreciate it if everyone would leave
a comment and explain what it is that Jesus is teaching.

Are you Embarrassed? - Ted

Scripture: "If any of you are embarrassed over me and the way I'm leading you when you get around your fickle and unfocused friends, know that you'll be an even greater embarrassment to the Son of Man when he arrives in all the splendor of God, his Father, with an army of the holy angels."

When was the last time you prayed with passion or prayed at all in a room full of unbelievers? If you have another excuse besides embarrassment, I'm all ears. Following Christ is easy when every ones with you. May I be bold in the face of the opposition!

Feeling Foolish - Lucas

Mark 8:13-21

I read this passage 3 times. Then I got it. Made it more enlightening because of the fact I had to read it so many times.

Lord, open the eyes if my heart as I read Your Word.

Deny Yourself - Mark

Numbers 29:7
On the tenth day of this seventh month hold a sacred assembly. You must deny yourselves and do no work. (NIV)

Ten days later, on the tenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly. On that day, the Day of Atonement, the people must go without food and must do no ordinary work. (NLT)

Tithing is a way that God humbles my heart and helps me to focus my attention on Him. God does not need my money, He needs humble servants.

Numbers 12:3
Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.

Perhaps fasting, denying my human nature, is the next level of Spiritual maturity. Praying, Praising, Reading, Tithing, and Fasting are ways that God uses to help me take my focus off of me and my problems. When I spend my time seeking Him, then human wisdom does not interfere with my communication with God.

I am excited about the things that God is sharing with me during this time of fasting.

Mark 8:12 - Seth

"Why does this generation clamor for miraculous guarantees? If I have
anything to say about it, you'll not get so much as a hint of a
guarantee."

Lord give me more faith, so I don't need guarantees to move forward.

What's before us- Michael

Mark 8-21;

Vs. 21 And he said to them, "Do you not yet understand ?"

What is before us? Jesus does again some very significant things here in Mark 8. He heals a blind man so that he may see, and he feeds 4k with seven loafs and a few fish and yields seven baskets back in return from the feast.

To me it seems that Jesus is saying, I will provide everything you need just have "Faith" and "Trust in the Lord"for all things. This is what's before us our "Faith", people that Christ ministered to saw but did not see, a vast majority did and believed, but those who did not were like the blind man, not able to see "What was before them". So to the question again, answered to me in Proverbs 3;5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

Offerings

As I was reading Numbers it really struck me just how much time, effort and possessions were required to make atonement before Christ came. It is astounding if you think about how valuable livestock was during the time of Moses! I am so thankful that Christ died for us and we no longer live under the law.
Since I have committed to reading the bible in the morning first thing, I have noticed a difference in how my day goes and my attitude overall. It is so good to have your day ordered by God. Dan
