"Long Life", Genesis 5 - Ted

Scripture: In Genesis Chapter 5 the Family Tree of the Human Race is outlined.
Adam Lived 930 years
Seth, Son of Adam, lived 912 years
Enosh, Son of Seth lived 905 years
Kenan, Son of Enosh, lived 910 years
Mahalalel, Son of Kenan, lived 895 years
Jared, Son of Mahalalel, lived 962 years
Enoch, Son of Jared, lived 365 years (because he was taken by God before death)
Metheselah, Son of Enoch, lived 969 years
Lamech, Son of Metheselah, lived 777 years
Noah, Son of Lamech was 500 years old when he had Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Observation:  I've always wondered why the first sons and daughters of Adam and Eve lived such long lives.  After reading the first few verses of Chapter 6 it seems clear that God basically wanted to populate the earth.  Somewhere during the time of Noah God decided he wasn't going to breathe life into men and women endlessly so he set a new expected age of 120 years.

What I don't know is will this number change again by God as we read on or is 120 years still the standard only to be cut short by what man dose to himself by free will?

Prayer:  Lord, may I follow your ways and live a long and healthy life.  As a side note, I believe Robin and I will die at the same time at 114 and 115, she is a year older.  We have had these numbers since we were dating more than 10 years ago.

Genesis 5:24 - Seth

Genesis 5:24 "Enoch walked steadily with God. And then one day he was
simply gone. God took him.

Luke 2:15-18
As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. "Let's get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.

God is more concerned with my faith journey and the changes that occur in me than he is in the destination. My friends and family know that we are struggling, and they are watching me. How am I sharing my faith journey, and how am I telling them about the miracles that Jesus performed today?
Over the last 2 days I have reflected on the solid life reading, I find it amazing that when you think about all that God has created, that he placed man (and woman) above all, for his pleasure in his likeness, so that we may praise and worship him through our lord and savior Christ Jesus. I also find it amazing that we were placed here to serve others that we might bring glory to God. We were not placed on earth to be served and to take from every thing that we can, but to serve one another and in turn share in his love, that is what God is, he is love and we can love one another because he loves us.

Prayer: Dear lord, We lift you up and praise you father, lord we ask that you guide us and give us clarity in this new year lord that we may go out and better serve you lord.
Father we ask that you also bring us into this new year to serve others as you would have us serve. We ask you this in Jesus name. Amen

The Great Conundrum

Mark 10:43
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Every day, we are faced with The Great Conundrum. My human nature tells me that tithing, serving at the church, and daily fellowship with God results in less money and time that I have available for something else. Exercising in the morning will cause me to be tired the rest of the day and use up too much time. Placing my spouse's needs ahead of my own means that my needs will never be met.

Jesus came to earth and modeled a servant's heart for us to emulate.
He knows that a faith filled life actually works opposite to what the world believes and eliminates my ego from the equation.

Jesus daily breaks the laws of math and science as we know them in ways that we can not explain. Tithing of my time and money provides me with a blessing by serving others, and the remaining 90% of our finances always stretches further than the the original check ever could. Exercise actually causes me to have more energy and feel more alert the rest of the day.

When I start asking those around me how I can help them, my ego is buried, and I remove my focus from me. Serving my wife every day causes her to be in a better mood, feeling uplifted, and willing to support me.

Daily walking with God gives me the opportunity to hear an encouraging word for the day, and my increased efficiency quickly makes up for the time invested in my relationship with Him.

Only the God of the universe could stretch time and money, bending the laws of physics with His will. God gives a glimpse of this reverse paradigm as we grow spiritually and learn to walk with Him. How amazing is the God we serve, and how amazing is His love for us?

Gods sunrise will break in upon us. Luke 1:78 Chasing Daylight - Seth

"Unashamed", Genesis 2:23-25 - Ted

Scripture: NLT “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame.

Observation:  A mairried couple should feel no shame when they are together.
Action/Prayer:  Focus on continuing to open my spiritual, emotional, and intellectual intimacy with my wife.

"The Final Judgement" Revelation 20:12 - Ted

Let me start by saying our salvation is NOT determined by our works, but rather by accepting Jesus Christ into our hearts as our Savior and nothing more.  With that said I think this scripture is a fitting end for 2009.  Why are our works recorded in the Book of Life?  After a little more reading it seems that our works are "evidence" of our relationship with God.  The better our relationship, the more we naturally desire to emulate him and therefore the more we "work" for His Kingdom and NOT mans.  "Works" out of obligation is NOT the goal, but rather "works" from a changed heart eager to serve God.

My Prayer:  During 2010, I pray that my focus will be on God.

New Living Translation (NLT) "I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. "

The Message (MSG) "11-15 I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire. "

King James Version (KJV) "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

New King James Version (NKJV) "And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God,[a] and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books."

Word for 2010

Luke 1:13
But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard.

Zachariah was praying for a son, but he was really praying for redemption.

The baby was to be named John which means; The Lord is Generous.

My personal word for today and for 2010 is:
God restores what was lost, and He makes all things new. Walk in Faith not Fear.

"Calling Out" Michael

Revelation 15-18:

The Final judgment has been set fourth, and another Angel comes fourth with a loud voice chastising Babylon, followed by a greater Voice from the Heavens calling out of her "my people".

The city of Babylon, the Great Adulteress. Multitudes of "Saints" will loose their lives to her by showing their new found faith in Jesus Christ, the enemy seems to think that by killing these people off they will be less of a threat to him. When that voice finally comes calling for all the Saints to be present, the City Burns into ruins leaving its devastation.

In reading these passages I have discerned that even in death their is life, because people still choose to accept Christ and were put to death in the flesh, when that powerful voice from the Heavens called down saying" Come out of her my people lest you take part in her sins, lest you take part in her plagues" (Rev.18-4). Our Lord God was commanding those who were sacrificed to come fourth and join him. This is showing us his full compassion, this is showing us his full Grace to the very end until all that is left are those who refuse to believe and are hardened.

Do we produced fruit from our Vines and can we say as the Marine Core says "No one left Behind"? We read it will happen though, do we want to be "Left Behind" to become Saints and Martyrs, God knows our true hearts better than we do.

Through these brothers in Christ and with their help I pray for us all to grow and be able to step out now Vs. later for Gods glory.

The Seven Disasters, Revelation 16 - Ted

Observation: The majority of Men and Women will curse God until the very end, even as they experience and ultimately die during the seven disasters as listed below in order of occurrence. Only believers will be spared.

1.) Loathsome, stinking sores
2.) The Sea will turn to blood and everything will die
3.) Rivers and Springs will turn to blood
4.) Fire from the sun will scorch men and women
5.) “The Beasts” kingdom will be destroyed
6.) The Euphrates River will dry up (Roadbed will usher in Kings from the East)
7.) Finally a huge earthquake will demolish everything on the earth and it will be DONE!

Other Observations: What is the difference between a “trumpet judgment” and a “bowl judgment”?
Answer… A trumpet judgment leaves room for repentance. A bowl judgment is final. What a statement of grace that up until the very end people are given an opportunity to be saved.

Actions: Lead in Gods ways. Don’t pursue material wealth or plant seeds for pursuing material wealth. What I mean by plant seeds is providing resources to meet people’s wants and/or unforseen wants rather than their needs. If I go into a poor persons home and, after assessing the situation, decide to bless him with a new gas BBQ rather than fixing his leaking roof I am indirectly making a statement that “life without a gas BBQ is incomplete”. Now I’m not suggesting that we never bless people with gifts, I just think we need to be mindful of the message sent when we choose material blessings related to nonnecessities over acts of service, counsel, kindness, food, etc…

If the pursuit of money and material wealth separates us from God and scripture states it will all ultimately be destroyed and it will be harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven than for a camel to thread the eye of a needle, why not plant seed elsewhere.

Prayer: Lord, place on my heart a burden for the children of the Cambodian Orphanage. What would you have me bless them with?

Perfect Offering, Revelation 14 - Ted

The 144,000 appear to be the “perfect offering” of God’s people that survived the tribulation period. To me this is a sign for those that aren’t raptured prior to the tribulation period that they will need to survive great persecution in order to be part of the 144,000.

Please comment, I would like to know you take on Revelation 14.
Hey guys! By january 1 everyone should be reading and journaling daily in life journals and our blog. Our next denneys gathering is the 9th. Expect an encounter with jesus everyday in 2010!

S: Rev. 9:21
There wasn't a sign of a change of heart. They plunged right on in their murderous, occult, promiscuous, and thieving ways.
O:
After all that has already taken place up to this point I am so amazed the enemy still has enough power to keep blinding people. What are people thinking.
A:
This is a huge eye opener for me, it is a must to spread the news about Jesus. Not only that but we need to be effective, how can I find the most effective way to educate people? I can say for myself, I will open my eyes and ears and tune in to the people around me. One life at a time, I want to be a canadite for Gods work.
P:
Jesus please teach me to listen the first time. I want to be like you. Give me courage in all situations that when the oppurtunity arises I will stand in your honor and be your witness. Lives are at stake and I want to make a difference one life at a time. Please give me ears to hear, eyes to see, and the heart to listen.

THE BEAST, Revelation 13 – Ted

The Book of Revelation is a must read in "The Message" version of the bible. My jaw is still open!
Here is a little sample from Revelation 13 THE BEAST FROM UNDER THE GROUND

"I saw another Beast rising out of the ground. It had two horns like a lamb but sounded like a dragon when it spoke. It was a puppet of the first Beast, made earth and everyone in it worship the first Beast, which has been healed of its deathblow. This second Beast worked magical signs, dazzling people by making fire come down from Heaven. It used the magic it got from the Beast to dupe earth dwellers, getting them to make an image of the Beast that received the deathblow and lived. It was able to animate the image of the Beast so that it talked, and then arranged that anyone not worshiping the Beast would be killed. It forced all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to have a mark on the right hand or forehead. Without the mark on the name of the Beast or the number of its name, it was impossible to buy or sell anything. Solve a riddle; Put your heads together and figure out the meaning of the number of the Beast. It's a human number; six hundred sixty-six.

A Revelation about Sex, Revelation 2:20 NLT - Ted

In the Message to the Church of Thyatira a strong message against sexual immorality is given with unique insight. The source of the sexual immorality is a woman prophet who's name may have been Jezebel, or this name may have just been used to symbolize the kind of evil she was promoting. Since I've always be intrigued by the "beware the immoral woman scriptures"  I dug a little to learn more about Jezebel.
Here is the commentary word for word from Revelation 2:20 NLT "A woman in the church in Thyatira was teaching that immorality was not a serious matter for believers.  Her name may have been Jezebel, or John may have used the name Jezebel to symbolize the kind of evil she was promoting.  Jezebel, a pagan queen of Israel, was considered the most evil woman who ever lived. "

"Why is sexual immorality serious? Sex out of marriage always hurts someone. It hurts God because it shows that we prefer to satisfy our desires our own way instead of waiting for his timing. It hurts others because it violates the commitment so necessary to a relationship. It hurts us because it often brings disease to our bodies and adversely affects our personalities. Sexual immorality has tremendous power to destroy families, churches, and communities because it destroys the integrity on which these relationships are built. God wants to protect us from hurting ourselves and others; thus, we are to have no part in sexual immorality, even if our culture accepts it."
